Whether you’ve been together for one year or fifty, divorce can be stressful and chaotic. Located in beautiful, historic Salem, Massachusetts, the law office of David W. Moran focuses chiefly on family law. As a police officer, I often witnessed the fallout of soured relationships. As an attorney, I see people every day who are at the lowest point in their lives. With my insight and skill, I support them during this stressful time. If you are in a divorce or are considering one, contact me and I can help you, too.

When hiring a divorce lawyer, you need someone who knows his way around a courtroom. I have 25 years of experience trying divorce and probate cases. My clients come from all over the Massachusetts North Shore. Over the years, the judges in Massachusetts have become aware of my proficiency. They’ve appointed me a “certified discovery master.” If two sides in a divorce can’t agree about what documents to show each other, a judge will call me to help resolve the dispute. The judges have also appointed me a “certified conciliator.” If a divorcing couple is on the verge of settling their case, a judge can bring me in to help them reach a settlement.

For a good family lawyer, knowing rules and procedures is not enough. He has to know how to handle people who are in crisis. I know that divorce is not just a legal event, but an emotional event with emotional consequences. I make it my business to listen to my clients with patience and empathy without rushing to judgment. If they’re in a fog of shock and pain, I need to know that.  Knowing a client’s emotional and social state enables me to serve them better. That way, I don’t just get them a divorce. I help them improve their life.
